| They will not stop trying to harm you and ruin things for you, wanting what will hurt you and making things really difficult for you | |

| In their hearts they have even more hatred | Hatred has already shown itself from their mouths, and what their breasts hide [within] is yet worse |
Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you.
| O you who have faith in Allah and follow His Prophet, do not take unbelievers as close friends, letting them know your secrets and private business | do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people; they do not fall short of inflicting loss upon you; they love what distresses you; vehement hatred has already appeared from out of their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater still; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you, if you will understand |
